Accredited Chest Pain Center

Des Peres Hospital is an accredited Chest Pain Center, which means we have the expertise to quickly diagnose chest pain during the critical early stages of a heart attack, when treatments are more effective.

Our relationships with area St. Louis and outlying ambulance districts utilize some of the latest communications systems, including the ability to transmit 12-lead EKGs directly to the Emergency Department Physician, allowing for rapid identification and treatment of heart attacks.  Our ER department also provides point of care testing for patients who present with chest pain and shortness of breath. This test is used as an aid in the early diagnosis and assessment of acute coronary syndromes, including heart attack and assessment severity of heart failure.

The Emergency Department team has round-the-clock access to medical specialists who provide prompt assessment and specialized care when their expertise is needed.

In addition to cardic care, we provide emergency care for respiratory disorders (pneumonia/ respiratory disorders, severely impaired pulmonary function, compromised airway), ENT/ophthalmology disorders, septicemia, lacerations, orthopedic trauma including sports injuries, pediatric emergencies, OB/GYN disorders, and problems of the gastrointestinal system.

Other conditions that are life-threatening (such as drug overdose, nutritional/ metabolic imbalance and/or disorders) are treated as well.
