Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit

Des Peres Hospital’s Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit brings some of the latest thinking in geriatric care to our older patients.  It was developed with and remains under the medical directorship of leading geriatricians from Saint Louis University.

The ACE unit is designed to meet the care considerations of the older hospitalized patient and reduce the risk of developing complications, with the goal of maintaining the patient’s functionality and independence.

Personalized treatment is designed and provided by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, dieticians, therapists and other senior care specialists who are knowledgeable in and sensitive to the special concerns of older patients.  Treatment plans are reviewed and coordinated with your primary care physician.

For patients with acute delirium, 24-hour continuous observation is available.

In every case, our goal is to provide a caring, comfortable environment where patients can reach their highest functioning ability – while maintaining their personal dignity and independence.
