Senior Care Center
Our Senior Care Center makes it simple and convenient for you to access the health care services you need. Services offered include:
- Arranging appointments. When you need to see a specialist or require an outpatient service or screening, simply call our Senior Care Center. A registered nurse will coordinate your care.
- Geriatric Assessments. Our geriatricians provide a complete physical, mental and psyco-social assessment to evaluate and determine your health care needs. This includes a review of your medications, a memory/mental status assessment to determine or rule out different types of dementia and various diagnostic tests.
- Wound Management – Our team coordinates with your primary care physician to help minimize wound development and care for a variety of chronic and episodic wounds, such as diabetic ulcers or pressure sores.

Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit
Our ACE unit is designed to meet the special needs of the older patient who needs acute care, with the goal of maintaining the patient’s functionality and independence.
The ACE Unit brings some of the latest thinking in geriatric care to our older patients. It was developed with and remains under the medical directorship of leading geriatricians from Saint Louis University, ranked 12th in the nation for Geriatric Medicine by U.S. News & World Report for 2007.
Your personalized treatment is designed and provided by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, dieticians, therapists and other senior care specialists who are interested in and sensitive to the special concerns of older patients. Treatment plans are reviewed and coordinated with your primary care physician.
Special services offered on the unit include group activities, in-room physical or occupational therapy and communal dining. For patients with acute delirium, 24-hour continuous observation is available.
