Includes Additional Bed Capacity and New Waiting Area

(St. Louis) Tenet Saint Louis' Des Peres Hospital today announced the kick off of a multi-phased construction and renovation project designed to increase capacity, streamline operations and improve the patient experience.

The more than $2.9 million project consists of simultaneous renovations on two floors of the facility and reconfigures departments within the facility's existing footprint.  Once complete it will add:

• four dementia and 13 private medical beds, including one ADA-accessible room
• 11 new surgical preparation and recovery beds
• a new waiting area for surgery and radiology
• a reconfigured reception area for radiology
• two ADA-accessible restrooms

"This is a major improvement project and is ultimately designed with ease of use in mind -- for patients and their families, as well as for our physicians and staff," said Michele Meyer, chief executive officer of Des Peres Hospital.  "All so that we can continue to deliver a high level of service and make each patient's experience here as comfortable as possible."

Des Peres Hospital is a 167-licensed bed community hospital located at 2345 Dougherty Ferry Road.  Des Peres Hospital has been serving the medical and health care needs of St. Louis County for 30 years.  The hospital provides quality medical and surgical care through a wide variety of services and programs, including senior care, heart care, orthopedics and emergency care.  Des Peres Hospital is accredited by the American Osteopathic' Associations Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program.
